The event “Harmony of the Two Beauties,” combining two unique forms of art – Czech crystal and Azerbaijani carpets – took place at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Prague from February 21 to March 16, 2025.
The idea for this event came from the fact that both crafts are part of the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This made a strong base for connecting two different cultures.
The newly appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Prague, H.E. Yashar Teymur Oglu Aliev, spent some of his very first evenings in Prague supporting this connection between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan. He was joined by important guests from Baku – Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the Committee for the Azerbaijani Diaspora, and Emin Mammadov, Director of Azerkhalcha, a traditional carpet-making company.
We were also happy to welcome Ing. Radomil Doležal, MBA, Director General of CzechTrade, who gave an opening speech and supported further cooperation between the two countries.
Besides presenting our family’s glassmaking tradition and showing our crystal collections, we gave guests the chance to try engraving their own designs on wine glasses using our mobile engraving machine. At the same time, experts from Azerkhalcha showed how traditional carpets are woven by hand.
The space, located near Wenceslas Square and decorated with Czech crystal and Azerbaijani carpets, became a perfect place for friendly meetings. People from the Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, and also many other countries joined us – including several diplomats from foreign embassies in Prague
